The amount I'm being taxed seems incorrect

If your pay this month was taxed, despite not earning enough to warrant this, this will be because the PAYE system assumes that you will carry on earning at a similar level throughout the tax year so, by the end of the tax year, you will have earned over your tax-free amount.  Because of this, HMRC spread tax deductions over the year rather than waiting for the allowance to be reached.  They adjust the tax during the year if they think you will over or under pay.

The amount you are taxed is based on the information you provided to us, when submitting your New Starter Form.

Please contact HMRC directly to confirm if any changes to your tax code are needed. If you have further queries, you will need to seek independent tax advice since Trinity are not able to provide advice on tax matters.
